The state of Western Australia, is Australia’s face on the Indian Ocean. Its capital Perth is closer to Singapore and Jakarta than it is to Canberra. The total population of Western Australia is 1 461 700. The majority of people live in and around Perth (population 1 193 100).

Western Australia is the largest Australian State. With an area of more than
2 500 000 sq km, a 12 500 km coastline and spanning 2 400km from north to south, it occupies a third of the continent.

Only the narrow Timor Sea separates its northern coastline from equatorial islands of the Indonesian Archipelago and to the south is the Southern Ocean and Antarctica.

Exmouth Lighthouse, Western Australia

Exmouth is one of the few areas in Australia that can boast the Range to Reef experience. The Cape Range National Park which has some spectacular gorges is an area of 50,581 hectares and its main area is focused on the west coast of the Cape which provides a large variety of camp sites on the coastal fringe of the Park .

The Ningaloo Marine Park abuts the Cape Range National Park and encompasses 260 kilometres of coastline. At the closest point the reef is within 100 metres of the shore. The reef itself comprises 200 species of hard corals and 50 species of soft corals and is a divers and snorkellers paradise. The beaches of the west coast have the most pristine blue, aqua to turquoise waters with white surge breaking over the reef and pure white sandy beach. Turquoise Bay is the most relaxing beach to just sit back, relax and soak up the beautiful surroundings and sunshine.
