Victoria - The Garden State
Victoria is the smallest and most densely populated of the mainland states in Australia
(the island state of Tasmania, offshore to the south is smaller).
Melbourne the Victorian capital, dominated by trams, is a mixture of old European elegance and new-world style.
It is easy to travel around this compact State, affectionately called the Garden State, and Victoria is perfect for a touring holiday as it is complimented by a comprehensive road network. |

Melbourne
Melbourne and Sydney have always had a respectful rivalry, with each city challenging the other to be 'number-one' in Australia.
On first impressions Melbourne, with its elegant buildings, parks and tree-lined boulevards, would not seem out of place in Europe .
Despite its image as a centre of culture and the arts, the Victorian Capital is every bit as thrusting and dynamic as Sydney and there always seems to be something new and exciting opening in Melbourne. This is not a city which rests on its laurels.
Melbourne is also known for its fine dining as its restaurateurs are regarded as some of the best and most innovative in Australia. |

The Great Ocean Road
The Great Ocean Road has recently been voted as one of the Worlds Great Drives so it is unsurprisingly one of the wonders of the State of Victoria.
The Great Ocean Road is 160 miles of breathtaking scenery and without doubt one of Australia's most scenic coastal roads. The road was built in the 1930's as a memorial to the servicemen of World War I and caresses the clifftops of this rugged coastline. |

The Dandenong Ranges
Dandenong is a small town 30 miles east of Melbourne and south of the famous wine region, the Yarra Yarra Valley. The Dandenong Ranges National Park (or Dandenongs), a few miles to the north, offers a beautiful natural retreat from the bustling activity of Melbourne.
Dandenong has a similar feel to the other big city 'weekender' designations of say The Blue Mountains near Sydney and Montville near Brisbane. The Dandenong Ranges is the perfect romantic get away, spotted with quaint villages, good restaurants, cafes, craft shops, art galleries, beautiful gardens and boutique accommodation. Crisp and cosy in winter but equally as beautiful whatever the season. |

The Grampians
The Grampians are named after the mountain range in Scotland due to their resemblance, as seen through the eyes of the Scottish explorer, Major Mitchell who climbed them in 1836.
The Grampians are located in the mid west of Victoria and the wild sandstone formations form the western extremity of the Great Dividing Range. |
